Hossam el-Dein Hafez, an Egyptian passport holder, voices the frustration echoing among his compatriots. "We were born in Egypt, yet lists of travelers allowed to cross predominantly feature Palestinian passport holders. We long to go back, attend to our work, and reclaim our roots," he laments.
Amid Israel's relentless bombings, desperate Egyptians have sought refuge near the southern frontier gate, hoping for reprieve. Alana Omar, another Egyptian passport holder, shares a heartbreaking account of her family's struggles. "My mother, an elderly, ailing woman, languishes in bed. We lack the means to procure her medicine. Despite promises at the embassy, the wait continues, and we yearn to return to our birthplace," she expresses.
