President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Ms. Justina Nelson as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Minerals Income and Investment Fund (MIIF).
Ms. Nelson is a seasoned banking professional with over two decades of experience. She currently serves as a Group Head at Zenith Bank (Ghana) Limited, overseeing both the Energy and Commercial Banking sectors.
Her academic credentials include a Master of Laws (LLM) in Corporate and Commercial Law and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing, both from the University of Ghana. Additionally, she holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Management and Psychology from the University of Ghana.
The MIIF is a sovereign minerals fund established under the Minerals Income Investment Fund Act, 2018 (Act 978). Its mandate is to maximize the value of dividends and royalties accruing to Ghana in a beneficial, accountable, and sustainable manner, while monetizing the country's mineral wealth to create long-term value for the nation.
Ms. Nelson's appointment follows the recent removal of Edward Nana Yaw Koranteng, who had served as the CEO of MIIF since 2021.
Her extensive experience in the banking sector, particularly in energy and commercial banking, positions her well to lead MIIF in achieving its strategic objectives and contributing to the sustainable development of Ghana's mineral resources.
