In a significant announcement, Democracy Hub, the driving force behind the #FixTheCountry movement and #OccupyJulorbiHouse protests, has declared its intention to organize a month-long picketing event in Accra, Ghana, starting from December 1st to December 31st, 2023, at Julorbi House.

The Purpose:

Democracy Hub has voiced concerns over what it sees as issues plaguing the country under the current leadership. These concerns include incompetence, a lack of integrity, abuse of power, and economic mismanagement leading to high unemployment rates and increased poverty levels. The organization is also worried about deteriorating press freedom, extra-judicial killings, and the persecution of democratic reform activists.

The Themes:

The picketing event, themed "#OccupyJulorbiHouse" and #JustResign, aims to call on the President of Ghana to resign or face impeachment by Parliament. It also demands the immediate prosecution of corrupt officials, including those close to the President, who have been accused of contributing to what's been labeled as a "Friends, Family, and Concubines Government."

Education and Advocacy:

Additionally, the protest will serve as an opportunity to educate Ghanaians about the organization's enduring advocacy for a New Constitution for a New Generation. Democracy Hub seeks progressive Constitutional Reforms that will ensure social equity, economic justice, and address the abuse of power and impunity more effectively.

The Format:

The picketing event will take place at Jubilee House, specifically on the side facing Liberation Street.

Guidelines:

Democracy Hub is committed to a peaceful and organized event. They will establish and publish detailed picketing guidelines and conduct informational sessions to educate the public about these guidelines.
