Kwame Opoku eyes Black Stars return

Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku has expressed his ambition to rejoin the Ghana national team, the Black Stars. After returning to Kotoko in December 2024 on a two-and-a-half-year deal , Opoku has been in remarkable form, netting five goals in four matches .

Reflecting on his previous tenure with the Black Stars, Opoku acknowledged that he had more to offer and is now determined to enhance his performance to earn another call-up. He stated, "I believe that during my first time with the Black Stars, I had more to offer, but maybe it wasn’t the right time. Now, I’ll make sure to improve my game, and if I’m called up again, I’m ready to give my best to the national team."

Opoku's impressive goal-scoring prowess has not gone unnoticed. Asante Kotoko's head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, praised his abilities, stating, "His goal-scoring ability is fantastic." 

The striker also expressed gratitude towards Asante Kotoko supporters for their warm reception upon his return, emphasizing the club's prominence in Ghanaian football. He remarked, "Without a doubt, Asante Kotoko is the biggest club in Ghana. Its supporters are unmatched in size and passion—no one can rival the phenomenal fan base of the Porcupine Warriors."

With his current form and determination, Kwame Opoku is poised to make a compelling case for his return to the national team.
