Rwanda presidential election set for 15 July, 2024.Kagame's Bid for a Fourth Term"

Get ready for a pivotal moment in Rwanda's political landscape! On July 15, 2024, Rwandans will head to the polls to elect their next leaders. The charismatic Paul Kagame, who has been at the helm since the aftermath of the 1994 genocide, is seeking a historic fourth term. Widely supported, he secured over 90% of the vote in the 2003, 2010, and 2017 elections.

The National Electoral Commission, in a recent announcement on X (formerly Twitter), revealed that the presidential and parliamentary elections will take place simultaneously. The campaign period is set from June 22 to July 12, promising an engaging lead-up to the main event.
Amidst the political buzz, 24 women parliamentarians, two youth representatives, and a representative for Rwandans with disabilities will be selected on July 16 through electoral colleges and committees. The government's decision to align the presidential and legislative elections on the same day adds an intriguing dimension to the electoral dynamics.

In a bold move, Kagame, at 66, declared his candidacy in September, expressing gratitude for the trust placed in him by the Rwandan people. He aims to serve them tirelessly, potentially extending his governance until 2034 through constitutional amendments.

As the countdown to July 15 begins, the nation awaits a defining moment in its political narrative, where past accomplishments and future aspirations converge at the ballot box.
