The Obama Foundation Scholars Program at Columbia University might be the opportunity you've been waiting for. This immersive nine-month program offers academic, skill-based, and experiential learning to rising leaders from around the world.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be considered for this program, applicants should:
- Be emerging leaders who have made significant contributions to their field and are at a "breakthrough moment" in their careers.
- Demonstrate a commitment to service and leadership within their community, region, or country.
- Commit to returning to their communities and applying their enhanced skills and connections for the benefit of these areas.
- Be fluent in English (verbal, written, and spoken).
- Possess the ability and inclination to shape the future of their community positively.
- Exhibit a commitment to inclusivity, community-orientation, and hope.
Benefits for Scholars:
Selected scholars will enjoy several benefits, including:
- A monthly stipend to assist with living expenses in New York City.
- A furnished studio apartment within walking distance of Columbia University.
- Coverage of all tuition and fees for up to four courses at Columbia University.
- Basic medical, dental, and life insurance for the program's duration in New York City.
- Air travel to and from their home country for program-related activities.
Application Requirements:
Applicants should complete the following steps:
1. Fill out the online application form by 5 p.m. ET on December 12, 2023.
2. Provide a resume/curriculum vitae detailing their employment and academic history, as well as any awards, publications, or other significant activities.
3. Submit a short personal video statement (no longer than three minutes) introducing themselves and their work to the selection committee. The video should be uploaded to a video hosting service (e.g., YouTube or Vimeo), and a link to the video should be included in the online application.
